light and collided with a big rig in san francisco's hayes valley neighborhood. it happened last thursday. mack was ejected from the shuttle bus and pinned underneath that big rig. ucsf will install seat belts by the end of august. >>> a bicyclist struck by a food truck has died. the violent collision in the city's south of market neighborhood, nancy hoe made an illegal street on fremont street in front of the food delivery truck. ho was not wearing a helmet and suffered a critical head injury. she was pronounced dead last night. >>> tonight at 6:00, our first look at two suspects charged with killing a woman, setting her on fire, and then dumping her body in the streets of an up scale oakland neighborhood. salvador and hector garcia were charged with murder. the charges carry special circumstances that would mean they are eligible for the death penalty or a life in prison. she was the mother of aed to bler. they are gang members who were and rifted on tuesday, several days after police were led on high-speed chases. >>> bay chair children who rely on the big sisters, big brother

's a look at the weather. let's check traffic with elizabeth. >> thanks. unfortunately we have big problems developing now in sunnyvale. we're talking about a jackknifed big rig right there approaching the lawrence expressway exit in the southbound lanes of 101. now, three lanes are blocked in the southbound direction. no reports of any injuries with this jackknifed rig or what exactly the truck was carrying but we know that traffic is just squeezing by right now partially in that left lane and the center divide. also the on-ramp, the lawrence expressway on-ramp to southbound 101 is completely blocked. 280 is the best alternate in the area. not big backups now but if this continues to be out there for a while which it sounds like it could, chp just issued a traffic alert for that stretch, they will just said that they are hoping to get lanes 30 to 40 minutes after the tow crew arrives arrives son scene. we are waiting for word for when the crew arrives and then it could be 40 minutes from then so this is going to be an issue for the start of the morning commute for sure. so 280 a good alter

:05, happening as we speak, a big sink hole on highway 87 in san jose. that's right along the southbound side of the highway near west virginia street. work crews are out there and so is ktvu tara moyarti but what's the very latest? >> workers workers will not continue work until engineers arrive. we had to move because it was simply too dangerous. you can see where they've blocked out one southbound lane of 87 on the left and then one lane of alma avenue on the right. the sink hole is about 30 feet wide. there's a big gap underneath the median. now caltrans discovered the problem tuesday. they came out. they poured some gravel. sort of a band aid fix. and last night they compressed the gravel and found it sank. you can see where the concrete is exposed now. there's a huge crack running up and down on that roadway. they shutdown some lanes on the freeway. we are close to west virginia street. just to give you an idea where we are on 87. crews are expected to be out here all morning repairing the sink hole. damage is pretty extensive. the highway seems to be moving up. right now let's check i

. the roof started burning at 11:10 at alcatraz and king streets. it was an enormous fire. big flames coming out of that roof. it's too early to stay whether fireworks were to blame. check out these images from over in brentwood, two homes caught fire. firefighters think it was the barbecue grill, no one was hurt. the victims from one of homes had only been there about three weeks had just moved in. they had unfortunately been through this before. >> very scary. we were able to get out in time. we know the neighbors were able to help us. it was a second fire we've had. so it burned down and the fire department responded really fast >> reporter: just incredible. now check out what they were dealing with out in the county. east contra costa county, lots of grass fires, half a dozen. the skies lit up with illegal fireworks so a lot of them on the ground there were a lost fires. this is in bay point. no injuries were reported from these fires and no structures were burned but again, firefighters say it's too early whether fireworks was to blame but it would be quite a coincidence that it just ha

at a sleepover allie rasmus is live with more, including the soda that's becoming a big part of the investigation. >> reporter: we're live in santa rosa. this agency is investigating the 14-year-old's death. now, the four girls at the sleepover, including the victim, said they passed around a soda that taste strange. the sheriff's office determined there was an unknown substance to it. the teens were at a sleepover at a home and all four got sick during the night. they started throwing up after they drank the soda. at first, the parents thought it was food poisoning, but then on sunday, one of them would not wake up. they called paramedics. and they determined she died. the crime investigations unit are looking into the death. a cause of death for that 14- year-old girl has not been determined yet. we've put in requests with sherr 6 investigators to find out -- sherr 6 investigators to find out where they are with the -- with the investigation. back to you. >> thank you. >>> pleasant hill police say they have two men in custody who may have used clone debit cards to rob bay area atms. officers fo

the forecast. wall street rallied. a big bucket of cold water was poured on wall street and the economy with the lackluster jobs. >> the economy added an average of 215,000 jobs per month in the previous three months so the anticipation was there. and it showed a stand still in june. what is it about june, do we know what happen? >> it's not just june. they went back and revised downward the prior month. they thought they had 57,000 jobs in may. it turned out it was 25,000. they got rid of it -- they revised away 45,000 additional jobs. we think there have been temporary blips in the economy, the greek situation, storms all through the south you were reporting on. you've had high gas prices and a whole lot of other things have been happening and that caused the economy to come to a stand still and hiring come to a stand still in may and june. we hope that's the case. >> you want to bring up an important thing that a lot of people don't hear about. you call it the real unemployment rate, the ratio of unemployed, discouraged workers and people working part time because they can't find ful

security. it can be a big hassle. passengers brace for another potential procedure. this is all because of what's been dubbed so called belly bombs, explosives surgically implanted in a person's body. it's the newest threat that tsa is warning about. terror groups believed to be experimenting with explosives that could be in their back side or breast which would be undetectible by the body scanners. a spokesperson said tsa briefed air carriers and foreign partners to provide greater inside into recent intelligence indicating the continued interest of terrorists to target aviation. a specific imminent threat has not been identified. speaking to passengers they say this news is unsettling. >> seeing it on the screen, you know, just leave it in god's hands. hopefully everybody traveling will be safe but unfortunately we can't stop all of it. >> reporter: so, what can you expect as a passenger? security officials say they may resort to trace detection swabs, more intense questioning, and pat-downs and the use of enhanced technology. here at san jose international nothing specific has been c

for those of us dealing with the very hot weather. back to you. >> thanks. >>> the big dust storm that hit arizona this week is now making it difficult for some people to breathe. the storm swept through the phoenix area on tuesday, swallowing the city's skyline. since then are the air has remained hazeied and dusty. and right now doctors across the phoenix area say they are busy treating patients suffering from asthma and other breathing problems. common symptoms include wheezing and coughing. >> i would equate it to walking to a smoke-filled room, something like that. that kind of thing, where even people with normal lungs get a little irritated. but imagine somebody with some -- inflammation. >> doctors say the best advice for people in the phoenix area is just to stay inside, until the air clears up. >>> the death toll from the tornado in may, that ripped through joplin, missouri, is now at 159. the city's public information office recently released a statement saying a woman has died from her injuries. the announcement was the first in two weeks regarding any deaths related to the sto

the same location where the big earthquake happened in march and the tsunami but this one not as strong, just a little higher than 7.0. it happened about three hours ago back here in the bay area we are looking at temperatures much cooler today. a lot of fog is morning strong sea breeze today, that cooled off temperature significantly. san francisco did not make it out of the '50s. low 80s and to concord in livermore the temperatures of dropping about 10 to 15 degrees in some places fairfield 16 degrees cooler today than we had yesterday. this trend will continue where we had a lot of fog pushing into the bay, a strong seabury's and we will be in a pattern with very cool temperatures through the middle or possibly the end of next week. for tomorrow, look for temperatures in the '60s for set francisco and oakland, '70s for san jose, concord, low 80s. will off even more as a going to the beginning of next week. low 60s incenses: oakland and even the warmest spots inland will only make it to the mid-70s. i will let you know how long the cool weather will last coming up. >> is a sticky sit
